Determination

The question then, is for all of us how do we get that motivation?  The answer is its different for everyone.  For me it can be candy, although that is generic, it is really chocolate because as professor Lupin says, chocolate really des make a bad situation better for me.  For those of you who have not seen harry potter or read the books, I am sorry.  Another thing for me is Legos.  I say if I get something done I can buy myself a lego.  But probably the biggest reward, at least for the short term, is sitting down with a good book.  I would be willing to bet that I'm not the only one out there who loves a good book.

Determination

What is determination?  According to Webster's dictionary it is defined as: a quality that makes you continue trying to do or achieve something that is difficult.  We all have had and will have difficult things happen to us in this life.  There's no escaping that.  Some of those challenges and difficulties are of our own making.  Still others will be out of our control.  For me personally,  a challenge that I face that is (and always will be) out of my control to a certain extent is the fact that I have cerebral palsy, which makes it very difficult for me to walk.  The determination part, is itself, not always easy to come by.  I do not always want to do the things that are necessary for me to get my walking to a functional level.  Why? Because it's extremely difficult.  And sometimes it feels like a mountain that is impossible to climb.  But the truth is, if I have enough desire and determination to put forth the work, then one day I will walk.

Welcome to the New Year of Challenges and Excitement!

We recently got done with the holiday season.  For most of us, this is a joyful time, a time to remember loved ones, a time to reflect on Christ.  A time we reflect on what we have done in the past year or what has happened to us.  It's a time for resolutions.  Some of those resolutions will last only a couple months, if that.  But hopefully some of the important ones will last and we will try to improve.  No I am not perfect.  I struggle with many things, both physical and mental.  Everyone is in a different circumstance.  I encourage you to look forward to the new year with hope, even though it is difficult.  If you do so you will accomplish much in this new year.

For instance one of my new years goals was to post more regularly and to post something most of you would be interested in.  So you can evaluate me at the end of the year to see if I failed or succeeded.  I look forward to this new year with you.
